Time Management: 3 Tips for the Busy Mom

Time management is a tricky thing, especially for moms these days. Between kids’ activities, household responsibilities, and even full-time jobs for many, feeling like there are enough hours in the day can feel daunting and all too familiar. Here are 3 tips that can be used to help calm the chaos and feel a bit more in control of your surroundings and can let loose a bit this summer.

Be Organized

Simply being organized can eliminate stress from forgotten appointments, double-booking, or trying to find the time to cook dinner.

  • Look over each day’s plans the night before
  • Calendar using an app or a written planner
  • Plan ahead schedule out your days, including time for fun

Having a routine and a plan makes it far easier to maintain a comfortable level of organization.

Multitask Appropriately

This is a skill that can take time to master but being creative is the key

  • Quiz your kids while cleaning the kitchen
  • Make business calls while taking your daily walk

There are many ways to get multiple things done by pairing a mindless task with a focus-dependent one.

If you want more time, freedom, and energy, start saying no.

Say “No”

Though this may be an obvious time management tip, that doesn’t make it easy. Learning to say no takes time and you will often disappoint someone while trying to make it all happen. When we say “yes” too much, it can also lead to disappointment since you end up spreading yourself too thin and can still come up short. Look at your priorities and know when it’s okay to say no to time demands that are not urgent or even necessary.

Try to implement these into your daily routine and find out home much more time you will have for yourself and your family fun.
